Note:  This page was created after I (Tammy) spoke with a group leader about her group coming to the farm.  She had questions that I thought may be helpful if I place here in one place for the leaders.  I hope this helps.

Home school groups go about a visit to Hubb's Farm in a variety of different ways.  On these days, Hubb's Farm allows the groups to go about the farm as any other open to the public day.  Really the only difference is that there are scheduled times for the educational sessions.  Groups can attend those or not it is up to the group.  Some groups want to do a wagon ride together, meet for lunch together, have a designated time for a group picture and more.  Wagon rides may have other guests on them; however, if you register a time, we will make every effort to make sure that there is a wagono ride available at that time for your group.

Below, we would like for you to register your group just to provide us with some estimated infomation about the number of families that may attend and to request a group wagon ride at a specific time.  Then as a group leader, you can let your group know that you have told us that you are coming and you can also go ahead and tell them specific things about your group's visit to the farm.  You can register your group at this link  HOME SCHOOL GROUP HUBB'S REGISTRATION.  You may register group in advance of purchasing tickets.  Registering your group give our staff a 'heads up" that a group is coming and it also provides us insight about activities that you would like for your group to do together.  Registering your group does not require a payment and it really is not a commitment, although we do ask if you register and then decide that the group can't come to please call us.

The farm is open from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM those days.  When purchasing tickets, we ask that you pick the time that you plan to arrive.  Everyone in the group does not need to arrive at the same time.  We have it broken down in time slots so it gives us an idea about what to expect at the front gate and when.

As a group leader I would ask each family to purchase their own tickets.  Let the families know that there is no need to purchase the tickets so far in advance.  We do not expect to sell out.  We have plenty of room and activities to accomodate large attendances.  We do not offer refunds unless we cancel the day and to not have a makeup day announced in advance.  We are open rain or shine.  Only in the event of severe weather or other things that would be out of our control would we cancel.  For each of the 2023 Fall Home School Days, we have an already announced make-up day announced.

Some FAQs

  • Should families bring a copy of the NOI filed with the NC DNPE
    • It is not necessary for the families to bring a copy of the NOI.  We also recognize that if the child is in kindergarten then the family probably does not have the NOI yet.  (I think that is correct) Anyway, I put it out there so that the general public knows that this is a home school event.  I figure it will deter non-home school families from purchasing the home school day tickets.  We do not check for the form.  ;-)
  • Do all group families need to arrive at the same time?
    • NO, The families can purchase their tickets for whenever they would like to arrive.
  • Lunch -
    • Hubb's Farm will have limited concessions available on those days, so we ask that you let your families know.  They are welcome to bring foods in from the outside. We have lots of picnic tables around, mutliple covered shelters also.   Tables are a first come first serve.  We ask that you keep you lunches in the vehicle until you plan to eat.  We want the tables to be available for families to use and not appear that they are reserved by have lunch boxes, coolers, etc. stored on them while family are out and about playing.
  • Is it possible for group to schedule a wagon ride together?
    • Yes, and it is helpful if we know in advance.  You can let us know by registering your group below.
