I hope you're doing well. I'm reaching out with an important update about our Homeschool Day at Hubb's Farm, initially planned for Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Given the latest weather forecast of rain and potential high winds this Thursday, and considering all our activities are outdoors, we've decided it's best to move our Homeschool Day to a clearer day. As a precaution and in line with the backup plan mentioned on the ticket order page, we are rescheduling the event to Tuesday, April 16, 2024. We want to ensure everyone has a great time without the worry of bad weather.
Here are the new details:
- New Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2024
- Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM as original schedule
Your existing tickets will be honored on the new date, so there's no need for any extra steps on your part.
Hubb's Farm has been thrilled to welcome home school families to the farm for 17 years.
Home school families are families that are established as home schools with the state. To Hubb's Farm, this means that the family has filed for, plans to file or has on file the NOI with the NC DNPE
If you are a leader of a co-op or other multi member home school group and you are planning a trip to Hubb's Farm for the group. The following link may be helpful. Info for group leaders.
Limited concessions will be available. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or other snacks that you may like.
In the event that the Home School Day has to be cancelled due to inclement weather or any other unforseen event that is out of our control, we have set aside an make up date for Tuesday, April 16, 2024
Educational sessions will take place at various times during the day. A schedule will be posted at the farm the day of the event detailing the time and location on the farm.
The following are available for an additional fee on Homeschool Day.
- Plant a Seed Activity - $2 per participant
- Interactive Forest Quest (similar to a scavenger hunt) created specifically for HomeSchool Day. Hubb's Farm utilizes the online program https://www.goosechase.com/. Participants will need their smart phone to participate. - $2 per participant
- Gem Mining - $4 per participant
Families will be able to explore the farm at their own pace on HomeSchool Day. Visit the following areas. Spend as long as you would like in each area.
- Crops of Fun Play Land
- Animal Acres - Various farm animals will be available for the children to see and learn about. A Hubb's Farm Staff member will be there to answer questions and share information with the groups. There will also be boards around Animal Acreas telling about the different animals. Children will get to see a cow, goats, sheep, horse, donkey, ducks, chickens, rabbits, peacocks, turkeys, and possibly other animals
- Forest Trail - Walk the trail and explore while recognizing various trees and foliage native to eastern North Carolina.
- Farm Animal Signage – These signs help to facilitate discussions with children on the importance of farm animals.
- Character Building Storybook Trails - Each of these trails contain 12 storyboards. The students will enjoy the fun story as well as the colorful and detailed boards. The storybook about JellyBean and the Unbreakable Egg also offers a plush animal and book sold in the farm store.
