Hubb's Farm has welcomed guests to the farm for the last 17 years. We have been open for school groups and to the public. Through the years we have realized that everyone does not explore the farm at the same pace. We continuously try to improve our customer service and do our best to accomodate our guests needs.
This fall we're excited to offer a Special Needs Day. On this day we welcome special needs groups, individuals, and families with special needs members to come out to the farm and enjoy at a deeply discounted rate. These special guests will be the only ones visiting the farm that day. We will not allow bookings from any other type group and/or members of the public. This day will provide our staff the opportunity to accomodate the special needs that our guests may have.
On this day you may come out to the farm and enjoy it at your own pace. Our staff will be available to answer questions and provide guidance when needed. We will also post a schedule of some special events that we hope to take place closer to the date.
This option includes access to picnic tables, access to our Crops of Fun Play Land, wagon ride around farm and access to Animal Acreas, all three at no additional charge.
Families will be able to explore the farm at their own pace. Visit the following areas and spend as long as you would like in each area.
- Wagon Ride - Our wagon rides are tractor pulled around the farm and included in all tickets. Please note that we have one handicap lift for wheelchairs under 250 pounds. Some heavy mechanical wheelchairs may not work.
- Crops of Fun Play Land
- Animal Acres - Various farm animals will be available for the children to see and learn about. A Hubb's Farm Staff member will be there to answer questions and share information with the groups. There will also be boards around Animal Acreas telling about the different animals. Children will get to see a cow, goats, sheep, miniture horse, donkey, ducks, chickens, rabbits, peacocks, turkeys, and possibly other animals
- Nature Trail - Walk the trail and explore while recognizing various trees and foliage native to eastern North Carolina.
- Bee Waggle Gam - Walk a designated area on the farm to find 6 medallions. At each medallion the student will make a rubbing that will reveal the dance moves that bees make to tell other bees where the best flowers are located. This is a fun and interactive way to get the students moving once they get back to the “hive” and show off the different Bee Waggling moves. This simple game educates on the importance of bees and how they communicate.
- Farm Scene Education Banners – These banners help to facilitate discussions with children on the importance of farming and agriculture. The banners are designed to create guided conversations on how a plant grows, how plants make food, where our food comes from, and how a pumpkin is pollinated.
- Sing-a-long Trail – Walk the trail while singing along to the tune of Old MacDonald Had a Farm. This is fun and entertaining as it starts off, The Peterson Family had a farm …
- Storybook Trails - Each of these trails contain 12 storyboards. The students will enjoy the fun story as well as the colorful and detailed boards. The storybook and plush animal for each of this stories are sold in the farm store also.
- The Three Silly Goats and their Stuff
- The Three Little Racing Pigs
