Homeschool Days at Hubb's Farm

Please  READ  the information below.  We feel the information below will answer most of the questions that you have about the day, purchasing tickets, the pricing, the timed ticketing, and etc.  Once you have read it, if you still have questons, email Tammy at tammyp@hubbsfarmnc.com  

Hubb's Farm has been thrilled to welcome homeschool families to the farm for 15 years.  Yes, some of you have been here every year.   

We have set a couple of days aside this year to allow homeschool families to come out and benefit from the homeschool price structure that we had a few years ago.  

On Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday October 19 homeschool families can come out for and receive the field trip discount rate

• of $12 per person 

• one parent/teacher per family will be allowed FREE.

Homeschool families are families that are established as homeschools with the state.  To Hubb's Farm, this means that the family has filed for or have on file the NOI with the NC DNPE

Limited concessions will be available.  You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or other snacks that you may like.

To Order:

• Select the Month, then the date, then the time that you will arrive

• Enter the number of paid attendees that you will have in the Quantity

• If this order will have a free parent/teacher, enter the free parent/teacher's name in the designated area.  

• Please remember that the timed ticket purchasing is required and is used to help with capactity and to prevent crowding at entry.  The capacity per timed should be enough to allow for your group to enter at approximately the same time (+-15-30 minutes of each other)  Please complete the question regarding groups and this will help us to know what group you are with and will help us adjust for possible early or late arrivals on this day.

The last ticket is sold 1 hour before closing.  Please be mindful of the time selected, that is your arrival/entrance time.   The farm closes promptly at closing time.

 Educational Hubb Talks:

Hubb's Farm will provide educational Hubb Talks at the below times each HomeSchool Day. Each Hubb Talk takes place once each day.  

1. 10:45 AM   Nature Trail Tour - Location:  The Forest at Hubb's Farm Nature Trail  - This is a walking tour and will last approx. 20  This will take place starting at 10:45 AM.  Meet the Hubb's Farm Staff at the Nature Trail.  

2. 11:30 AM    Pumpkin Power Education - This is a classroom style setting and will be at the Classroom Shelther at Animal Acres.  This will last approx. 15 - 20 mins.  This will take place starting at 11:30.  Meet the Hubb's Farm Staff at the Classroom area.  You can purchase a variety of size pumpkins when you are at the farm.  If you would like to purchase a field trip size pumpkin in advance it is $3/person CLICK HERE

3. 1:00 PM   Gem Dandy - This will take place at 1:00 PM.  The Hubb Talk will take place at Paydirt Pete Treasure Mine.  It will last approx. 10 - 15 mins.  If any participant would like to participate in Gem Mining, you can purchase the Gem Mining bag of rough the day of the event or purchase in advance.  PUrchase bag of mining rough l$4/person CLICK HERE

 Self-Guided Education Trails and Areas:

 Your group can do as many or as few of the following trails and areas as each leader would like or as time allows.  The trails do not need to be done in any order and all are “stand alone” trails.

Animal Acres  - Various farm animals will be available for the children to see and learn about.  A Hubb's Farm Staff member will be there to answer questions and share information with the groups.  There will also be boards around Animal Acreas telling about the different animals.  Children will get to see a cow, goats, sheep, miniture horses, donkeys, ducks, chickens, rabbits, peacocks, turkeys, and possibly other animals at times.  

Character Traits Trail – Leaders can lead the group down the trail that includes 10 common traits that are common in individuals.  All but one trait is positive.  Can you guess what the negative one is?  The negative trait is Bullying.  This is a great time to talk at bullying and October is anti-bullying month. 

Commodity Trail – Trail that includes the top 10 agriculture commodities in North Carolina.  Do you know what a commodity is?  North Carolina is an agricultural leader in the United States. 

Sunflower Info Display – Learn that sunflowers are a unique and valuable plant that have many uses.  Learn important facts about the diverse flower and then walk through the sunflowers.

Nature Trail – Walk the trail and learn about various trees that are native to eastern North Carolina and are identified along the trail. 

Farm Tracks – locate 6 medallions while walking the Nature Trail.  At medallion the student will create a rubbing of an animal track from each medallion.  At the end of the trail will be a banner and the student can identify and match the tracks to the correct animal. 

Bee Waggle Game – Walk the flower field to find 6 medallions.  At each medallion the student will make a rubbing that will reveal the dance moves that bees make to tell other bees where the best flowers are located.  This is a fun and interactive way to get the students moving once they get back to the “hive” and show off the different Bee Waggling moves.  This simple game educates on the importance of bees and how they communicate. 

Farm Scene Education Banners – This banners help to facilitate discussions with children on the importance of farming and agriculture.  The banners are designed to create guided conversations on how a plant grows, how plants make food, where our food comes from, and how a pumpkin is pollinated. 

Sing-a-long Trail – Walk the trail while singing along to the tune of Old MacDonald Had a Farm.  This is fun and entertaining as it starts off, The Peterson Family had a farm …..

Storybook Trails

Each of these trails contain 12 storyboards.  The students will enjoy the fun story as well as the colorful and detailed boards.  The storybook and plush animal for each of this stories are sold in the farm store also.

Please be aware that upon checkout there is a fee added to the order.  This is to cover online processing fees and credit card processing fees.  We understand that some may or may not agree with this, however, in order for our farm to be open to the public during this year of unknowns, it is a must.  If you do not agree, we are fine that you are not willing to purchase tickets.  The fee will be included and shown before checkout.  Thank you for considering supporting our family farm (small business).  The Peterson Family
